Tu Hwnt i'r Bont is a Grade II listed 15th-century tea room beside the Inigo Jones bridge over the River Conwy at Llanrwst, on the edge of Snowdonia. Surrounded by gardens with views over the Conwy Valley, it serves high tea, homemade cakes and preserves, light lunches, artisan pastries and Parisella's ice cream from Conwy. It is open year round with hours that vary around Christmas, and is dog-friendly with on-site parking.

Victorian tea room in the Butler House serving an authentic afternoon tea on three-tier towers — finger sandwiches, tea breads, pastries, and scones with Devonshire cream — Thursday through Saturday by reservation only. The Elegant Afternoon Tea runs $40 and the Royal-Tea service with soup and salad course $48. Vintage lace, silver, crystal and china set the scene, and guests are invited to borrow from the house hat collection.

Rehoboth Beach

Oceanfront restaurant at the Victorian-styled Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, serving refined coastal cuisine with indoor and boardwalk-patio seating. A traditional afternoon tea is offered Tuesday through Thursday from 3 to 5 pm, by phone reservation only with 24 hours notice. The three-tiered dining room gives an Atlantic view from every table.

Portobello · Dublin, Leinster

Dublin loose-leaf tea importer founded in December 2010, with a café and store in Portobello open seven days. The owners visit the gardens that supply them, from Darjeeling to Taiwan, and carry around 150 tea varieties across black, green, yellow, white, oolong, pu-erh and matcha. The café serves a full brunch, lunch and afternoon tea menu and roasts its own coffee.

Shawnee

Wandering Vine serves a traditional afternoon tea experience inside a historic castle in Shawnee, on the Kansas side of the Kansas City metro. Tea is offered Saturdays from 11:30am to 2:00pm at $40 per person with a monthly changing menu, and the restaurant pairs the service with an award-winning wine list, bubbles, and cocktails.

The Island · Waterford, Munster

Sixteenth-century castle on a 310-acre private island reached by the resort's complimentary ferry, ten minutes from Waterford city. Afternoon Tea is served daily from 1:30pm to 3:30pm in three courses of warm scones with clotted cream and preserves, savoury sandwiches and desserts, with a choice of teas or coffee. Booking is essential; weekend seatings are limited to 90 minutes.

Waterloo Tea's city-centre teahouse sits in Wyndham Arcade, one of Cardiff's oldest Edwardian arcades, across two floors with an upstairs room for private functions of up to 14. The menu centres on loose-leaf black, green, white, oolong, puerh, matcha and herbal teas, many single-origin, alongside coffee and tea accessories. Classic and vegan afternoon teas are served here and at the Whitchurch Road teahouse with 24 hours' notice.

Newark

Mother-and-daughter British tea room whose founders trace their scone-and-tea tradition to grandparents from Yorkshire, England. Every loose-leaf tea is hand-selected and every bake made fresh in-house, from the $32 Queens Tea of sandwiches, desserts and scones with unlimited tea to the $85 Alexander Tea with soup, salad and gold-leaf scones. A $17 Princess Tea serves children 12 and under.

Wenham

The Wenham Tea House was built in 1916 by the Wenham Village Improvement Society, which still owns and maintains the building today. Its current restaurant tenant, French-Mediterranean bistro Plat du Jour, carries on the tradition with afternoon tea served Saturdays from 2:30 to 4:30 PM by reservation only. The bistro also offers fine dining, Sunday brunch, and a retail gourmet shop.
