Front Range tea is defined by its rooms. Denver's grandest service happens under a stained-glass ceiling; Boulder's under a hand-carved and hand-painted one gifted by a sister city in Tajikistan; and an hour south, two castles above Colorado Springs seat guests in a Music Room and a Victorian parlour. Few regions in the country put this much building around the pot.

Denver

Afternoon Tea at The Brown Palace is the city's iconic service, a tradition dating to the hotel's Victorian heyday and served daily beneath the stained-glass ceiling of the Grand Atrium lobby: finely brewed blends with delicate sandwiches, scones with Devonshire cream, and classic pastries. Across town on Platte Street in the Lower Highlands, Babe's Tea Room runs reserved 90-minute seatings daily, with weekend Par-Tea seatings from 9 AM. Its published menu lists the traditional afternoon tea at $65 (gluten-free and vegan at $67, children at $38), a $72 signature service that adds a specialty spritz, and a $24 unlimited tea tasting for anyone who wants the leaf without the tray. Boulder

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is a hand-built Tajik teahouse, famous for its carved and painted ceiling and central fountain. Afternoon tea is served daily from 3 to 5 PM, reserved 24 hours ahead — curated fine teas with savory finger sandwiches, pastries, and house-made scones with jam and clotted cream — and on select weekends there is a $30 dim sum teatime. A few blocks away on the Pearl Street Mall, Ku Cha House of Tea is the flagship of a twenty-year-old Colorado tea company stocking what it bills as the state's largest selection: more than 250 teas across pu-erh, oolong, blooming art teas, and beyond, with five other locations around the state.

The Castles of Colorado Springs

Glen Eyrie is the Tudor-style castle built by Colorado Springs founder General William Jackson Palmer, and its afternoon tea is served in the historic Music Room and Library. The published rate is $40 per person for the seasonal tea and $50 for the tea reception, with a $3 dietary modification; reservations open 60 days ahead, and a private Tower Room tea is available for groups. In Manitou Springs, the Queen's Parlour Tearoom sits inside the 1895 Miramont Castle museum and serves Tuesday through Sunday at 11 AM and 1 PM only: the four-course High Tea at $45, the three-course Light Victorian Tea at $35, and a $30 Prince & Princess Tea for children eight and under. The castle also hosts themed events, from Titanic tea parties to Bridgerton garden parties.
